ROCKCLIMBING

THE AUSTRALIAN CLIMBING HANDBOOK

I had the joy and privilege to contribute to this amazing book with my illustrations. The illustrations not only explain the technicalities, but also bring in the context of the Australian nature in which we love to climb. This book, published in 2026, is the most comprehensive Australian climbing handbook. It is written by some of my best friends - instructors from Australian School of Mountaineering. It is filled with extensive knowledge and peer reviewed by some of the highest regarded climbers and guides in Australia and world wide. Accompanied by lots of photographs, illustrations and technical drawings, it covers everything climbers need to know, from planning and equipment to safety and technical skills. It also explores environmental considerations, along with important cultural and historical aspects of climbing in Australia.

If you don’t know who I am …. you will find me climbing on the back cover of the book.

I used to look at people climbing on rock cliffs … and turn away. Unthinkable! Nothing for me! Too far from what I can imagine I could be capable of.

See? One can overcome the unthinkable, overcome oneself, the mind and its beliefs.

Had I known I will one day illustrate a book? I would probably turn away.

But climbing tough me to hold my breath and trust. And so some time ago, I had the joy of bringing both my passions together … in the illustrations.

This book will be a great help to you.

On your own journey to overcome the unthinkable.
